Abstract
Tomato (Lycopersiconesculentum) is one of the most grown fruit vegetable that have rich in nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants compound. Vitamin C is a food substance needed by humans to prevent scurvy, bones and blood vessels and to increase the body's resistance to infection. The objective of the Study was to compare vitamin C content of tomatoes grown under organic and inorganic fertilizers. This study was conducted at near the Poultry Department of Mountain View College, Mt. Nebo, Valencia City, Bukidnon from August to December 2013. There were 3 treatments (control, organic and inorganic fertilizers) with 3 replications were conducted. Diamante variety was used in this study. Six tomato seedlings were transplanted in each plot. Tomato plants were watered daily. Hand weeding was done every two weeks and nets were used to protect the plants. Iodine titration was used to analyze the vitamin C content of tomato. Results revealed that highest vitamin C content of tomato was found in organically grown tomatoes. it is recommended that further studies be done in other places for vitamin C content of tomato.
