Abstract
Drinking water supply of Mountain View College was tested for the presence of coliforms to provide information vital to the consumers on the bacteriological quality of drinking water which serves as a warranty about the cleanliness and safety of potable water. Using standard methods of membrane filtration, samples from 12 households, 3 dormitories and tests for enteric bacteria, coliform and E. coli were undertaken to ascertain the existence of these coliforms. Results revealed water contamination by coliform bacteria. Samples were also positive for E. coli. Some factors might have continuous monitoring of water system were recommend to prevent, if not eradicate the incidence of coliform, associated disease.
